On November 29, 2007, join the “Christmas with the Von Trapp Children” show to hear the heartfelt songs by the great-grandchildren of Captain von Trapp, real father of the fictional Sound of Music family. The “Annual Indoor Santa Claus Parade” will take place on December 2, 2007, in the major shopping centres downtown. Over one kilometre of dancing groups, marching bands, floats and mascots will welcome children and families in festive spirit. Wander on down to the “Festival of Trees” where hundreds of them will be decorated and lit up. From November 29 - December 2, 2007, take part in the children’s activities, live entertainment and shops with treats and gifts.
The Rutherford House will be decked out in “A Christmas Past” theme, adorned with elegance, seasonal music and a historic kitchen. For more historical atmosphere, Fort Edmonton Park is hosting “Christmas Reflections,” a winter wonderland from 100 years ago. Tours begin in 1905 and include a warm drink, old Christmas traditions, assembling a 1901 wish list from Eaton’s catalogue, making cookies at Mellon Farm and creating a yarn doll angel and Christmas wreath.
